Ahead of the National Executive Committee(NEC) meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC ) which will be attended by President Mohammadu Buhari, members if the Progressive Governors Forum(PGF) and other critical Stakeholders of the Party and chaired by Chief Victor Giadom, in his capacity as Acting National Chairman,a Chieftain of the Party in Rivers State,Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, is of the settled conviction that the Party will use the momentous occasion to lay a solid path to a peaceful resolution of all crisis and hostilities within its fold.

Chief Eze who was reacting to the unprecedented move by the President, further said that Thursday’s meeting at the Presidential Villa, would be a watershed in the annals of the Party especially as efforts and modalities would be put in place to paper the cracks within the Party.

In a Press statement made available to Media Houses in Port-Harcourt, the Party Chieftain opined that “all is now set for the APC to reorganize its house and put modalities in place to expediently conduct primary elections in Ondo and Edo States to beat the deadline in line of the Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) on electoral guidelines.

Recall that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a press release on Wednesday said President Buhari will be attending the NEC meeting convened by Chief Giadom at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Garba’s statement read:
“The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the Party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman”

“We urge the media to stop promoting manufactured controversies and to not give any further room for mischievous interpretations of the law on this matter”.

“In addition to the President, the Giadom meeting will, hopefully, be attended by our Governors and the leaders of the National Assembly”.

By this position, Chief Eze said the President has shown respect to the rule of law which will further deepen the tenets of democracy within the APC and Nigeria in general.

Congratulating Chief Giadom, the Party Chieftain counselled him to seize the opportunity to make an indelible footprints by redoubling efforts geared towards repositioning the Party and ensuring it retains power in Edo and Ondo States.

Acknowleding the enormous challenges before the Party,he opined that an Extra Ordinary Emergency Convention be convened to elect fresh NWC members to fill the vacant positions in the Party’s National Executive.
He also appealed for the quick conduct of Congresses in Rivers State to help rebuild and reposition the Party in the State.

Chief Eze further submitted that the exigency of the time makes it imperative for the Party’s NEC to extend Chief Giadom’s stay in office as Acting National Chairman to “help the Party meet up with critical fundamental demands of the season especially, the prerequisites for the Edo and Ondo Gubernatorial polls that are just by the corner.”

He equally decried the outburst of Hon. Hilliard Eta, South-South Zonal Vice Chairman of the APC on the scheduled NEC meeting.

He said Eta’s comments were “disrespectful and a mere dissipation of energy. And for the said Eta to continue to hold a meeting with Oshiomhole’s appointees without the approval of Chief Giadom the Acting National Chairman is totally unfortunate and unacceptable.”

” Etta is an overzealous APC Officer who allowed himself to be used as a tool to sow seeds of discord and confusion among the ranks of the Party since the ouster of Adams Oshiomhole. This is unfortunate and to demonstrate his shameful act, he decided to work with PDP agents to destabilize APC Chapter in Rivers State going to the extent of even swearing in Governor Wike’s ally, Barr. Worgu Boms as National Deputy Secretary”.

The Party Chieftain therefore, urged security agencies to monitor Etta and his cohorts very closely, stressing that “their recent body language is suggestive that they are hellbent on destroying APC as a political Party to enable them float a new platform.”
